The comparison is flawed. Compare either different dialects or the different variations of Standard German such as North German Standard German, South German Standard German, Austrian Standard German and Swiss Standard German. There are more dialects in Germany than in all other German-speaking countries and regions in multilingual countries combined. Southern standard german from like Mannheim/Heidelberg/Ludwigshafen region sounds softer and more fluid. The Auslautverhärtung for G and B is mostly a northern german thing. A northern german speaking standard german would pronounce Hund (dog) with a T sound at the end, while a southern german speaking standard german would pronounce it with a D sound instead.

What do mean with monotone? Also "kuppi" is a loan word of german base. Not a base Finnish word, nor any scandinavian word. Comes from old English "cuppe" which is from Latin "cuppa"

Im a Native New Yorker who lived in Boston for 13 years. I needed subtitles! Basically, there are no "r"s in the middle of the words, and should an "r" fall on the end of a word, it becomes "ah." Also, most "o"s are pronounced "augh." Dont "Pahk ya Cah on Hahvahd Yahd." Itll get towed. 😝

Honestly, German only sounds funny to foreigners because of the even stricter pronunciations than those in English. Also, the long words are hard to keep track of.
